We have a fabulous new venue I know you'll love at Scropton Horse Centre. We will have a calming view of the horses in the fields and menage. We won't be working with them directly during these sessions (there are Mental Health Awareness with Horse Grooming and Agility sessions available separately, see below), but we will be able to stand at the fence during breaks and interact with them if they want to.

This is the only planned date for this training session this year.

Back by popular demand, the Safeguarding modules, always an extremely popular course. A compact and comprehensive programme, specifically designed with your unique needs as a practitioner a priority.

Safeguarding Part 1 – Essential Foundations for Understanding Abuse & Trauma explores what constitutes abuse, different types of abuse, how trauma affects the brain, body and nervous system, trauma responses, repeated cycles and behaviour patterns, abuser behaviour and potential warning signs of abuse. It is vital we understand what has happened and the impact caused before we can effectively and safely respond to it.

Most safeguarding training does not focus on this. It is not enough to know what to say or what strategies and techniques to use. It is vital that we understand how abuse might have affected the person we are supporting psychologically, emotionally and physiologically, especially in relation to brain function and the nervous system. Knowing how this informs how they experience and interact with us and the possible impact of our language and interventions is crucial.

Abuse thrives on silence, raising awareness is vital for reducing harm and keeping ourselves and others safe. Abusers do not want you to do this training!

About Your Trainer:

Jayne is an experienced counsellor specialising in working with trauma since her placement 14 years ago, a clinical supervisor and trainer, delivering sessions for individuals, businesses, schools, charities, local authorities, statutory agencies and emergency services.
